Production of cars per 1,000 people reached 17.5 vehicles in 2016 in China, according to ACEA. This is 15.2 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, production of cars per 1,000 people in China reached an all time high of 17.5 vehicles in 2016 and an all time low of 0.138 vehicles in 1992. When compared to China's main peers, production of cars per 1,000 people in India amounted to 2.87 vehicles, 62.8 vehicles in Japan, 8.03 vehicles in Russia and 12.1 vehicles in USA in 2016.
China has been ranked 14th within the group of 50 countries we follow in terms of production of cars per 1,000 people, 19 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Motor vehicles include cars, buses, and freight vehicles but do not include two-wheelers.
