Raiffeisen Bank Romania's non-performing loans reached 6.50% of total loans at the end of 2017, down from 7.70% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 11.5% in 2009 and an all time low of 2.23% in 2007.
Provision coverage amounted to 57.6% at the end of 2017, down from 59.4% compared to a year earlier.
The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 1.17% of average loans in 2017. That's compared to 1.94% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.
When compared to bank's main peers, Banca Commerciala Romana operated at the end of 2017 with NPL ratio of 9.38% and provision coverage of 80.3%, BRD Groupe Societe Generale with 8.13% and 95.0% respectively and Banca Transilvania had 8.22% of bad loans covered with 70.9% by provisions at the end of 2017.
