This translates into a net margin of 8.70%. Historically, the firm’s net margin reached an all time high of 8.78% in 2010 and an all time low of -9.27% in 2009. The average net margin in the last five years amounted to 5.53%.
On the operating level, EBITDA margin reached 6.48% and EBIT amounted to 11.7% of sales in 2017.
As far as Renault's peers are concerned, PSA Peugeot Citroen posted net and EBITDA margin of 2.96% and 8.84%, respectively in 2017, Volkswagen Group generated margins of 4.92% and 15.6% and Ford Motor Company's profit margin reached 4.85% on the net and 8.89% on the EBITDA level in 2017.
