Historically, sales of passenger cars in Austria reached an all time high of 51.3 thousand in May 1996 and an all time low of 7.68 thousand in December 1993. When compared to Austria's main peers, sales of passenger cars in Germany amounted to 215 thousand, 11.5 thousand in Hungary, 28.3 thousand in Italy and 17.6 thousand in Switzerland in March 2020.
