Historically, sales of passenger cars in Switzerland reached an all time high of 40.0 thousand in June 2012 and an all time low of 12.2 thousand in December 1995. When compared to Switzerland's main peers, sales of passenger cars in Austria amounted to 10.7 thousand, 62.7 thousand in France, 215 thousand in Germany and 28.3 thousand in Italy in March 2020.
