Sales of passenger cars reached 48.3 '000 in 2016 in Costa Rica, according to ACEA. This is 15.6 % more than in the previous year.

Historically, sales of passenger cars in Costa Rica reached an all time high of 48.3 '000 in 2016 and an all time low of 12.0 '000 in 2009. When compared to Costa Rica's main peers, sales of passenger cars in Guatemala amounted to 16.6 '000, 0.800 '000 in Honduras, 5.40 '000 in Nicaragua and 46.2 '000 in Panama in 2016.

Costa Rica has been ranked 62nd within the group of 139 countries we follow in terms of sales of passenger cars, 19 places above the position seen 10 years ago.

Passenger cars refer to road motor vehicles, other than two-wheelers, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine people (including the driver).
