Taxes on goods and services as a share of revenue reached 34.7 % in 2016 in China, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 1.6 % less than in the previous year.

Historically, taxes on goods and services as a share of revenue in China reached an all time high of 77.7 % in 2005 and an all time low of 34.7 % in 2016. When compared to China's main peers, taxes on goods and services as a share of revenue in Japan amounted to 38.0 %, 21.4 % in Russia and 2.86 % in USA in 2016.
