Historically, total dependency ratio in Afghanistan reached an all time high of 109% in 2003 and an all time low of 66.0% in 2022. When compared to Afghanistan's main peers, total dependency ratio in Iran amounted to 39.5%, 50.0% in Pakistan, 62.5% in Tajikistan and 41.8% in Turkmenistan in 2022.
