Total primary coal production fell 54.2% to 7,274 kt in Mozambique in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total primary coal production in Mozambique reached an all time high of 15,873 kt in 2014 and an all time low of 3.31 kt in 2005. When compared to Mozambique's main peers, total primary coal production in Malawi amounted to 83.0 kt, 256,876 kt in South Africa, 282 kt in Tanzania and 220 kt in Zambia in 2015.
