UniCredit Bulbank's non-performing loans reached 13.3% of total loans at the end of 2014, down from 15.8% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 15.8% in 2013 and an all time low of 3.66% in 2007.
Provision coverage amounted to 65.8% at the end of 2014, up from 62.4% compared to a year earlier.
The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 1.76% of average loans in 2014. That's compared to 2.09% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.
When compared to bank's main peers, DSK Bank operated at the end of 2014 with NPL ratio of 15.5% and provision coverage of 88.5%, United Bulgarian Bank with 20.5% and 84.9% respectively and Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria had 13.3% of bad loans covered with 57.7% by provisions at the end of 2014.
