Based on a comparison of 23 banks in Croatia in 2016, Zagrebacka Banka was the largest lender, followed by Privredna Banka Zagreb and Erste & Steiermarkische Bank.

Zagrebacka Banka loans reached HRK 80,746 mil, down 4.26% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans reached an all time high of HRK 84,340 mil in 2015 and an all time low of HRK 14,598 mil in 2000.

Comparing Zagrebacka Banka with its closest peers, Privredna Banka Zagreb customer loans amounted to HRK 65,177 mil, Erste & Steiermarkische Bank operated with HRK 43,656 mil loans and Raiffeisenbank Croatia had a loan portfolio of HRK 18,504 mil.

Croatian banking sector provided total customer loans of CZK 215 bil in 2016, down 3.47% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Zagrebacka Banka accounted for 37.6% of the sector’s loans in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 88.3% share while the five largest firms some 104% in 2016.
