Based on a comparison of 10 banks in Hungary in 2017, OTP Group was the largest lender, followed by OTP Bank Hungary and K&H Bank.

OTP Group loans reached HUF 6,987,830 mil, up 21.8% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans reached an all time high of HUF 7,047,180 mil in 2011 and an all time low of HUF 260,514 mil in 1993.

Comparing OTP Group with its closest peers, OTP Bank Hungary customer loans amounted to HUF 2,793,870 mil, K&H Bank operated with HUF 1,331,010 mil loans and UniCredit Bank Hungary had a loan portfolio of HUF 1,204,960 mil.

Hungarian banking sector provided total customer loans of CZK 3,085 bil in 2017, up 4.58% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - OTP Group accounted for 226% of the sector’s loans in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 360% share while the five largest firms some 436% in 2017.
