What Banks in Poland Generated the Most Revenues in 2016?

Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2016, PKO BP generated the largest revenues, followed by Santander Bank Polska and Pekao.

PKO BP reported total revenues of PLN 12,541 mil, up 8.06% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s revenues containing of interest, fee and other non-interest income reached an all time high of PLN 12,643 mil in 2012 and an all time low of PLN 5,773 mil in 2003. The average revenue in the last five years amounted to PLN 12,147 mil.

Bank's total revenues accounted for 4.39% of total assets in 2016, up from 4.35% a year earlier.

Comparing PKO BP with its closest peers, Santander Bank Polska generated total revenues of PLN 8,079 mil, or 5.38% of assets in 2016, Pekao operated with PLN 7,604 mil total income, or 4.36% revenue margin and mBank produced total income worth PLN 4,988 mil, or 3.73% of assets.

Polish banking sector generated total revenues of PLN 180,186 mil in 2016, up 3.46% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 6.96% of the sector’s total income in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 15.7% share while the five largest firms some 20.8% in 2016.
