What Banks in Poland Were the Most Cost Efficient in 1Q2016?

Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 1Q2016, mBank was the most cost efficient bank, followed by Santander Bank Polska and Bank Millennium.

mBank's cost to income ratio reached 41.8% in 1Q2016, down from 50.6% when compared to the previous quarter and down from 43.0% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 188% in 4Q2004 and an all time low of 32.5% in 2Q2001.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 1Q2016, down from 1.50% a year earlier.

When compared to the nearest peers, Santander Bank Polska operated in 1Q2016 with a cost to income ratio of 44.6%, Bank Millennium reached 50.3% and Pekao some 51.0%.

The average cost to income ratio reached 51.0% in the Polish banking sector in 1Q2016.
