Based on a comparison of 10 banks in Romania in 2017, Banca Transilvania operated with the lowest loan to deposit ratio, followed by CEC Bank and Banca Commerciala Romana.

Banca Transilvania's loan to deposit ratio reached 60.1% at the end of 2017, down from 63.7% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans to deposits hit an all time high of 89.7% in 2008 and an all time low of 49.6% in 2000.

Comparing Banca Transilvania with its closest peers, CEC Bank ended the year 2017 with loans to deposits at 61.1%, Banca Commerciala Romana with 63.8% and BRD Groupe Societe Generale some 67.0% of loans to deposits at the end of 2017.

Overall, total loans of the Romanian banking sector amounted to 76.8% of deposits at the end of 2017.
