Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Russia in 2016, OTP Bank Russia had the highest share of bad loans, followed by Russian Agricultural Bank and Promsvyazbank.

OTP Bank Russia's non-performing loans reached 21.5% of total loans at the end of 2016, up from 19.4% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 21.5% in 2016 and an all time low of 12.3% in 2010.

Provision coverage amounted to 20.5% at the end of 2016, down from 22.9% compared to a year earlier.

Comparing OTP Bank Russia with its closest peers, Russian Agricultural Bank operated at the end of 2016 with NPL ratio of 20.5% and provision coverage of 51.2%, Promsvyazbank with 19.3% and 41.4% and Sberbank had 11.0% of bad loans covered with 64.0% by provisions at the end of 2016.

Non-performing loans of the whole Russia’s banking sector amounted to 9.44% of total loans in 2016, up from 8.35% when compared to the last year.
