Based on a comparison of 19 banks in Russia in 2016, Sberbank was the largest deposit taker, followed by VTB Bank and Gazprombank.

Sberbank's customer deposits reached RUB 18,612,900 mil, down from RUB 19,687,200 mil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of RUB 19,687,200 mil in 2015 and an all time low of RUB 368,055 mil in 1995.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, VTB Bank's deposits amounted to RUB 7,346,400 mil at the end of 2016, Gazprombank operated with RUB 3,330,820 mil of customer deposits and Russian Agricultural Bank had clients' deposits of RUB 1,577,770 mil at the end of 2016.

Russian banks had customer deposits of CZK 35,180 bil in 2016, down 6.08% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Sberbank accounted for 52.9% of the sector’s deposits in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 83.3% share while the five largest firms some 91.5% in 2016.
