What Banks in Slovakia Were the Largest Lenders in 2016?

Based on a comparison of 14 banks in Slovakia in 2016, VUB Banka was the largest lender, followed by Slovenska Sporitelna and Tatra banka.

VUB Banka loans reached EUR 10,725 mil, up 17.5% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans reached an all time high of EUR 10,725 mil in 2016 and an all time low of EUR 676 mil in 2000.

Comparing VUB Banka with its closest peers, Slovenska Sporitelna customer loans amounted to EUR 10,251 mil, Tatra banka operated with EUR 8,351 mil loans and CSOB Slovakia had a loan portfolio of EUR 6,097 mil.

Slovak banking sector provided total customer loans of CZK 2,950 bil in 2016, up 6.04% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - VUB Banka accounted for 0.364% of the sector’s loans in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 0.994% share while the five largest firms some 1.36% in 2016.
