Based on a comparison of 22 banks in Turkey in 2016, Ziraat Bank was the largest deposit taker, followed by Garanti Bank and Akbank.
Ziraat Bank's customer deposits reached TRY 223,019 mil, up from TRY 186,469 mil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of TRY 223,019 mil in 2016 and an all time low of TRY 0.002 mil in 1958.
Comparing Ziraat Bank with its closest peers, Garanti Bank's deposits amounted to TRY 178,690 mil at the end of 2016, Akbank operated with TRY 173,968 mil of customer deposits and Isbank had clients' deposits of TRY 169,038 mil at the end of 2016.
Turkish banks had customer deposits of CZK 1,418 bil in 2016, up 16.0% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Ziraat Bank accounted for 15.7% of the sector’s deposits in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 40.6% share while the five largest firms some 63.6% in 2016.
