Based on a comparison of 15 banks in Vietnam in 2018, BIDV was the largest bank by assets, followed by VietinBank and Vietcombank.

BIDV assets reached VND 1,313,040 bil, up 9.21% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of VND 1,313,040 bil in 2018 and an all time low of VND 201,382 bil in 2007.

Comparing BIDV with its closest peers, VietinBank assets amounted to VND 1,164,430 bil, Vietcombank operated with VND 1,074,030 bil assets and Sacombank had total assets of VND 406,041 bil.

Total assets of the Vietnamese banking sector amounted to VND 10,680,907 bil in 2018, up 10.9% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - BIDV accounted for 0.012% of the sector’s assets in 2018. The top 3 companies held a 0.033% share while the five largest firms some 0.040% in 2018.
