Based on a comparison of 15 banks in Vietnam in 2019, Vietcombank was the most cost efficient bank, followed by Vietnam Prosperity Bank and MBBank.
Vietcombank's cost to income ratio reached 31.9% in 2019, up from 32.2% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 58.1% in 2004 and an all time low of 20.9% in 2002.
When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2019, up from 1.32% a year earlier.
Comparing Vietcombank with its closest peers, Vietnam Prosperity Bank operated in 2019 with a cost to income ratio of 34.6%, MBBank reached 34.9% and BIDV some 35.0%.
