Based on a comparison of 15 banks in Vietnam, Vietcombank produced the highest net profit in 2019, followed by Techcombank and VietinBank.
Vietcombank made a net profit of VND 18,514 bil, up 26.8% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of VND 18,514 bil in 2019 and an all time low of VND 224 bil in 2002. The average profit in the last five years amounted to VND 10,880 bil.
The bank generated an average return on equity of 19.1% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 25.5% and a minimum of 12.0%.
Comparing Vietcombank with its closest peers, Techcombank generated a net profit of VND 10,075 bil with a ROE of 17.7% in 2019, VietinBank netted VND 9,461 bil (ROE of 13.1%) and BIDV announced a net profit of VND 8,487 bil giving a ROE of 12.8%.
