Which Country Eats the Most Beans?

Based on a comparison of 138 countries in 2021, India ranked the highest in bean consumption with 5,275 kt followed by Brazil and Mexico. On the other end of the scale was Denmark with 1.00 kt, Guyana with 1.00 kt and Mauritius with 1.00 kt.

Total bean consumption reached 19,707 kt in 2021 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.57 % less than in the previous year and 13.3 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total bean consumption reached an all time high of 20,214 kt in 2020 and an all time low of 9,218 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.27 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, India, accounted for 26.8 % of bean consumption in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 45.2 % share while the ten largest countries some 65.9 % in 2021.
