Which Country Eats the Most Cereals?

Based on a comparison of 73 countries in 2013, India ranked the highest in cereal consumption with 191,278 kt followed by China and USA. On the other end of the scale was Iceland with 20.3 kt, Malta with 69.0 kt and Luxembourg with 74.6 kt.

Total cereal consumption reached 740,655 kt in 2013 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.62 % more than in the previous year and 7.80 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total cereal consumption reached an all time high of 744,332 kt in 1999 and an all time low of 486,471 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 0.812 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, India, accounted for 25.8 % of cereal consumption in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 56.1 % share while the ten largest countries some 74.0 % in 2013.
