Based on a comparison of 61 countries in 2012, USA ranked the highest in prisoners per 100,000 inhabitants with 704 persons followed by Georgia and Russia. On the other end of the scale was India with 30.6 persons, Iceland with 47.1 persons and Japan with 52.8 persons.
