Based on a comparison of 59 countries in 2014, Mexico ranked the highest in avocado production with 1,520,695 tonnes followed by Dominican Republic and Peru. On the other end of the scale was France with 4.00 tonnes, Seychelles with 12.0 tonnes and Cayman Islands with 19.5 tonnes.
Total avocado production reached 4,368,340 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 7.98 % less than in the previous year and 26.4 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total avocado production reached an all time high of 4,717,102 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 716,369 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 3.47 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Mexico, accounted for 34.8 % of avocado production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 52.6 % share while the ten largest countries some 86.3 % in 2014.
