Which Country Produces the Most Carrots?

Based on a comparison of 113 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in production of carrots and turnips with 16,286 tonnes followed by Russia and Uzbekistan. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with 0.021 tonnes, Qatar with 0.084 tonnes and Zimbabwe with 0.160 tonnes.

Total production of carrots and turnips reached 36,568,632 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.8 % less than in the previous year and 28.9 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total production of carrots and turnips reached an all time high of 37,226,640 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 5,840,894 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 3.52 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 0.045 % of production of carrots and turnips in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 0.053 % share while the ten largest countries some 0.068 % in 2014.
