Based on a comparison of 128 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in citrus fruit production with 34,927 kt followed by Brazil and India. On the other end of the scale was Maldives with 0.040 kt, Cayman Islands with 0.079 kt and Seychelles with 0.093 kt.
Total citrus fruit production reached 132,347 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.58 % less than in the previous year and 13.9 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total citrus fruit production reached an all time high of 135,761 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 25,066 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 3.19 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 26.4 % of citrus fruit production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 49.2 % share while the ten largest countries some 78.1 % in 2014.
