Based on a comparison of 97 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in garlic production with 19,985 kt followed by India and South Korea. On the other end of the scale was Switzerland with 0.036 kt, Slovakia with 0.041 kt and Finland with 0.049 kt.
Total garlic production reached 23,249 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 4.33 % less than in the previous year and 37.8 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total garlic production reached an all time high of 24,255 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 2,855 kt in 1970. The average annual growth amounted to 3.24 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 86.0 % of garlic production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 92.9 % share while the ten largest countries some 99.7 % in 2014.
