Based on a comparison of 82 countries in 2015, USA ranked the highest in gross natural gas production with 31,405 bil cb ft followed by Russia and Iran. On the other end of the scale was Slovenia with 0.106 bil cb ft, Finland with 0.141 bil cb ft and Luxembourg with 0.177 bil cb ft.

Total gross natural gas production reached 109,738 bil cb ft in 2015 in the World according to EIA. This is 12.1 % less than in the previous year and -12.8 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, total gross natural gas production reached an all time high of 147,476 bil cb ft in 2012 and an all time low of 87,925 bil cb ft in 1990. The average annual growth amounted to 0.890 % since 1990.
