Based on a comparison of 30 countries in 2014, Germany ranked the highest in hop production with 38,487 tonnes followed by Ethiopia and USA. On the other end of the scale was Hungary with 3.00 tonnes, Georgia with 4.00 tonnes and Serbia with 20.0 tonnes.
Total hop production reached 122,942 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 10.7 % more than in the previous year and 3.58 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total hop production reached an all time high of 148,994 tonnes in 1993 and an all time low of 69,670 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.08 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Germany, accounted for 31.3 % of hop production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 83.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 103 % in 2014.
