Based on a comparison of 23 countries in 2018, China ranked the highest in kiwi fruit production with 2,035,158 tonnes followed by Italy and New Zealand. On the other end of the scale was Canada with 30.0 tonnes, Tunisia with 35.0 tonnes and Bulgaria with 114 tonnes.

Total kiwi fruit production reached 4,022,650 tonnes in 2018 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.38 % more than in the previous year and 31.8 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total kiwi fruit production reached an all time high of 4,066,630 tonnes in 2015 and an all time low of 2,000 tonnes in 1970. The average annual growth amounted to 17.2 % since 1970.
