Based on a comparison of 55 countries in 2018, Indonesia ranked the highest in leek production with 573,228 tonnes followed by Turkey and Belgium. On the other end of the scale was Cyprus with 17.0 tonnes, Slovakia with 19.0 tonnes and Mauritius with 71.0 tonnes.

Total leek production reached 2,179,050 tonnes in 2018 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.336 % less than in the previous year and 4.47 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total leek production reached an all time high of 2,215,295 tonnes in 2014 and an all time low of 687,049 tonnes in 1976. The average annual growth amounted to 1.94 % since 1961.
