Based on a comparison of 49 countries in 2014, Indonesia ranked the highest in oil palm fruit production with 126,684 kt followed by India and Macedonia. On the other end of the scale was Suriname with 1.32 kt, Central African Republic with 5.97 kt and Madagascar with 20.9 kt.
Total oil palm fruit production reached 250,504 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 6.38 % less than in the previous year and 34.8 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total oil palm fruit production reached an all time high of 266,479 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 13,146 kt in 1967. The average annual growth amounted to 5.65 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Indonesia, accounted for 50.6 % of oil palm fruit production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 132 % share while the ten largest countries some 190 % in 2014.
