Based on a comparison of 38 countries in 2018, Spain ranked the highest in olive production with 9,820 kt followed by Italy and Morocco. On the other end of the scale was Malta with 0.060 kt, Kuwait with 0.078 kt and Uzbekistan with 0.117 kt.

Total olive production reached 21,561 kt in 2018 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.68 % more than in the previous year and 17.5 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total olive production reached an all time high of 22,023 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 5,411 kt in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 1.71 % since 1961.
