Which Country Produces the Most Pistachios?

Based on a comparison of 22 countries in 2018, Iran ranked the highest in pistachio production with 551,307 tonnes followed by USA and Turkey. On the other end of the scale was Mauritius with 4.00 tonnes, Cyprus with 10.0 tonnes and Azerbaijan with 22.0 tonnes.

Total pistachio production reached 1,390,269 tonnes in 2018 in the World according to Faostat. This is 16.9 % more than in the previous year and 62.2 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total pistachio production reached an all time high of 1,390,269 tonnes in 2018 and an all time low of 19,440 tonnes in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 7.66 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, Iran, accounted for 39.7 % of pistachio production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 89.1 % share while the ten largest countries some 99.5 % in 2018.
