Based on a comparison of 113 countries in 2015, China ranked the highest in rice production with 204,539 kt followed by India and Indonesia. On the other end of the scale was Swaziland with 0.099 kt, Jamaica with 0.188 kt and Algeria with 0.298 kt.

Total rice production reached 736,673 kt in 2015 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.613 % more than in the previous year and 13.9 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total rice production reached an all time high of 745,710 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 215,647 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.30 % since 1961.
