Based on a comparison of 22 countries in 2014, Mexico ranked the highest in safflower seed production with 144,411 tonnes followed by Kazakhstan and India. On the other end of the scale was Palestine with 0.600 tonnes, Israel with 13.0 tonnes and Pakistan with 21.0 tonnes.
Total safflower seed production reached 746,316 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 13.3 % more than in the previous year and 12.1 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total safflower seed production reached an all time high of 1,110,535 tonnes in 1979 and an all time low of 326,997 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.57 % since 1961.
