Based on a comparison of 75 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in strawberry production with 3,113,000 tonnes followed by USA and Mexico. On the other end of the scale was Luxembourg with 19.0 tonnes, Zimbabwe with 228 tonnes and Kuwait with 261 tonnes.
Total strawberry production reached 7,026,559 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 10.1 % less than in the previous year and 21.7 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total strawberry production reached an all time high of 7,739,622 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 737,267 tonnes in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 4.30 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 44.3 % of strawberry production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 70.4 % share while the ten largest countries some 94.9 % in 2014.
