Which Country Produces the Most Vetch?

Based on a comparison of 22 countries in 2022, Ethiopia ranked the highest in vetch production with 303,497 tonnes followed by Russia and Mexico. On the other end of the scale was Algeria with 77.9 tonnes, Tunisia with 253 tonnes and Lebanon with 460 tonnes.

Total vetch production reached 684,264 tonnes in 2022 in the World according to Faostat. This is 6.82 % more than in the previous year and -37.1 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, total vetch production reached an all time high of 2,315,556 tonnes in 1964 and an all time low of 637,621 tonnes in 2021. The average annual growth amounted to -1.64 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, Ethiopia, accounted for 44.4 % of vetch production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 80.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 96.9 % in 2022.
