Based on a comparison of 137 countries in 2015, Dem. Republic of the Congo ranked the highest in energy use in kg of oil equivalent per usd 1,000 of GDP with 537 kg followed by Trinidad and Tobago and Iceland. On the other end of the scale was South Sudan with 30.5 kg, Hong Kong with 37.3 kg and Ireland with 46.5 kg.
