Who Was the Most Cost Efficient Among CEE Savings Banks in 2017?

Based on a comparison of 12 banks among CEE Savings Banks in 2017, Sberbank was the most cost efficient bank, followed by Zagrebacka Banka and DSK Bank.

Sberbank's cost to income ratio reached 34.3% in 2017, down from 39.5% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 67.6% in 2004 and an all time low of 34.3% in 2017.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2017, down from 2.75% a year earlier.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, Zagrebacka Banka operated in 2017 with a cost to income ratio of 47.7%, DSK Bank reached 48.0% and PKO BP some 48.7%.
