Who Was the Most Profitable Among Czech Breweries in 2017?

Based on a comparison of 10 firms among Czech Breweries, Plzensky Prazdroj generated the highest net profit in 2017 followed by Budejovicky Budvar and Pivovar Svijany.

Plzensky Prazdroj made a net profit of CZK 2,619 mil, down 32.3% compared to the previous year. Historically, the firm’s net profit reached an all time high of CZK 3,882 mil in 2007 and an all time low of CZK 142 mil in 2001. The average profit in the last five years amounted to CZK 3,043 mil.

The company generated an average return on equity of 56.4% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 71.3% and a minimum of 49.9%.

Comparing Plzensky Prazdroj with its closest peers, Budejovicky Budvar generated a net profit of CZK 255 mil with a ROE of 5.51% in 2017, Pivovar Svijany netted CZK 236 mil (ROE of 30.5%) and Heineken Czech Republic announced a net profit of CZK 168 mil giving a ROE of 20.0%.
