Based on a comparison of 158 countries in 2020, Estonia ranked the highest in alcoholic beverage consumption per capita with 21.7 litres followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Czechia. On the other end of the scale was Afghanistan with 0.010 litres, Senegal with 0.010 litres and Bangladesh with 0.010 litres.

Average alcoholic beverage consumption per capita reached 2.71 litres in 2020 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.32 % less than in the previous year and -9.23 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, average alcoholic beverage consumption per capita reached an all time high of 3.69 litres in 1988 and an all time low of 2.26 litres in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 0.308 % since 1961.
