Based on a comparison of 152 countries in 2013, Egypt ranked the highest in tomato consumption per capita with 97.8 kg followed by Tunisia and Turkey. On the other end of the scale was Nepal with 0.100 kg, Central African Republic with 0.200 kg and East Timor with 0.500 kg.

Average tomato consumption per capita reached 20.1 kg in 2013 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.498 % less than in the previous year and 16.8 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, average tomato consumption per capita reached an all time high of 20.4 kg in 2009 and an all time low of 7.77 kg in 1963. The average annual growth amounted to 1.81 % since 1961.
