Sberbank made a net profit of RUB 750 bil, up 38.8% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of RUB 750 bil in 2017 and an all time low of RUB 13.9 bil in 2003. The average profit in the last five years amounted to RUB 434 bil.

The bank generated an average return on equity of 18.1% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 24.0% and a minimum of 10.2%.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, VTB Bank generated a net profit of RUB 120 bil with a ROE of 8.32% in 2017, Alfa Bank netted RUB 47.1 bil (ROE of 13.2%) and Gazprombank announced a net profit of RUB 33.8 bil giving a ROE of 6.31%.

The net profit of the Russia’s banking sector amounted to RUB 503,411 bil in 2017, down 23.2% compared to the previous year. Heading up the rankings, Sberbank accounted for 0.149% of the sector’s net profit in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 0.182% share while the five largest firms some 0.195% in 2017.

Credit Bank of Moscow's cost to income ratio reached 26.8% in 2017, down from 24.6% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 82.4% in 2007 and an all time low of 24.6% in 2016.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2017, down from 1.04% a year earlier.

Comparing Credit Bank of Moscow with its closest peers, UniCredit Bank Russia operated in 2017 with a cost to income ratio of 34.4%, Sberbank reached 35.3% and AK BARS Bank some 40.6%.

The average cost to income ratio reached 79.9% in the Russian banking sector in 2017.

Raiffeisenbank Russia's capital adequacy ratio reached 24.7%, down from 26.3% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 26.3% in 2016 and an all time low of 11.2% in 2007.

Comparing Raiffeisenbank Russia with its closest peers, Credit Bank of Moscow ended the year 2017 with a capital adequacy ratio at 23.4%, Rosbank with 21.0% and UniCredit Bank Russia some 18.2% at the end of 2017.

Tinkoff Group's net interest margin amounted to 20.7% in 2017, down from 21.6% when compared to the previous year.

Historically, the bank’s net interest margin reached an all time high of 35.7% in 2011 and an all time low of 19.8% in 2015. The average margin in the last five years amounted to 24.9%.

Average asset yield was 26.8% in 2017, down from 30.4% when compared to previous year. On the other hand, cost of funding amounted to 7.22% in 2017, down from 10.5%.

Comparing Tinkoff Group with its closest peers, OTP Bank Russia operated in 2017 with a net interest margin of 12.3% Raiffeisenbank Russia reached 5.65% and Sberbank some 5.53%.
