Based on a comparison of 28 banks in the Czech Republic in 2018, Profi Credit Czech had the highest share of bad loans, followed by Provident Financial Czech Republic and Cofidis Czech Republic.

Profi Credit Czech's non-performing loans reached 72.2% of total loans at the end of 2018, up from 71.3% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 73.2% in 2016 and an all time low of 32.7% in 2007.

Provision coverage amounted to 36.0% at the end of 2018, down from 40.2% compared to a year earlier.

Comparing Profi Credit Czech with its closest peers, Provident Financial Czech Republic operated at the end of 2018 with NPL ratio of 36.0% and provision coverage of 96.3%, Cofidis Czech Republic with 27.2% and 102% and Hello Bank! had 14.9% of bad loans covered with 80.1% by provisions at the end of 2018.

Non-performing loans of the whole Czechia’s banking sector amounted to 3.25% of total loans in 2018, down from 3.74% when compared to the last year.

Provident Financial Czech Republic's net interest margin amounted to 51.1% in 2018, up from 44.0% when compared to the previous year.

Historically, the bank’s net interest margin reached an all time high of 53.8% in 2016 and an all time low of 0.096% in 2010. The average margin in the last five years amounted to 46.0%.

Average asset yield was 54.8% in 2018, up from 49.7% when compared to previous year. On the other hand, cost of funding amounted to 6.41% in 2018, down from 9.56%.

Comparing Provident Financial Czech Republic with its closest peers, Profi Credit Czech operated in 2018 with a net interest margin of 24.7% Cofidis Czech Republic reached 12.7% and Hello Bank! some 10.3%.

CSOB made a net profit of CZK 17,517 mil, up 15.7% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of CZK 17,517 mil in 2017 and an all time low of CZK 570 mil in 1994. The average profit in the last five years amounted to CZK 14,786 mil.

The bank generated an average return on equity of 17.2% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 19.3% and a minimum of 15.9%.

Comparing CSOB with its closest peers, Komercni Banka generated a net profit of CZK 14,930 mil with a ROE of 14.5% in 2017, Ceska Sporitelna netted CZK 14,610 mil (ROE of 12.0%) and UniCredit Czech Republic announced a net profit of CZK 7,626 mil giving a ROE of 11.0%.

The net profit of the Czechia’s banking sector amounted to CZK 75,316 mil in 2017, up 2.44% compared to the previous year. Heading up the rankings, CSOB accounted for 23.3% of the sector’s net profit in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 62.5% share while the five largest firms some 77.8% in 2017.

Ceska Sporitelna reported total revenues of CZK 37,227 mil, down 2.62% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s revenues containing of interest, fee and other non-interest income reached an all time high of CZK 45,650 mil in 2009 and an all time low of CZK 19,112 mil in 2000. The average revenue in the last five years amounted to CZK 39,644 mil.

The top 3 companies held a 58.9% share while the five largest firms some 75.6% in 2017.
