Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2017, Bank Handlowy operated with the lowest loan to deposit ratio, followed by Bank Pocztowy and Bank Ochrony Srodowiska.

Bank Handlowy's loan to deposit ratio reached 55.6% at the end of 2017, up from 50.6% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s loans to deposits hit an all time high of 71.6% in 2003 and an all time low of 50.6% in 2016.

Comparing Bank Handlowy with its closest peers, Bank Pocztowy ended the year 2017 with loans to deposits at 78.2%, Bank Ochrony Srodowiska with 79.8% and Bank Millennium some 82.8% of loans to deposits at the end of 2017.

Overall, total loans of the Polish banking sector amounted to 74.0% of deposits at the end of 2017.

Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2017, Eurobank Poland operated with the highest net interest margin, followed by Alior Bank and Bank Pocztowy.

Eurobank Poland's net interest margin amounted to 4.81% in 2017, down from 4.92% when compared to the previous year.

Historically, the bank’s net interest margin reached an all time high of 5.40% in 2014 and an all time low of 4.81% in 2017. The average margin in the last five years amounted to 4.99%.

Average asset yield was 6.30% in 2017, down from 6.48% when compared to previous year. On the other hand, cost of funding amounted to 1.67% in 2017, down from 1.75%.

Comparing Eurobank Poland with its closest peers, Alior Bank operated in 2017 with a net interest margin of 4.35% Bank Pocztowy reached 3.79% and Getin Holding some 3.55%.

The average net interest margin reached 1.71% in the Polish banking sector in 2017 while interest spread amounted to 3.31%.

Based on a comparison of 18 banks in Poland in 2017, Santander Bank Polska was the most cost efficient bank, followed by Pekao SA and ING Bank Slaski.

Santander Bank Polska's cost to income ratio reached 43.4% in 2017, down from 46.5% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 79.8% in 2001 and an all time low of 43.4% in 2017.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2017, down from 2.39% a year earlier.

Comparing Santander Bank Polska with its closest peers, Pekao SA operated in 2017 with a cost to income ratio of 44.8%, ING Bank Slaski reached 44.8% and mBank some 45.9%.

The average cost to income ratio reached 45.1% in the Polish banking sector in 2017.

PKO BP reported total revenues of PLN 12,045 mil, up 11.9% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s revenues containing of interest, fee and other non-interest income reached an all time high of PLN 12,045 mil in 2017 and an all time low of PLN 5,626 mil in 2003. The average revenue in the last five years amounted to PLN 11,142 mil.

Bank's total revenues accounted for 4.06% of total assets in 2017, up from 3.77% a year earlier.

Comparing PKO BP with its closest peers, Santander Bank Polska generated total revenues of PLN 7,764 mil, or 5.09% of assets in 2017, Pekao SA operated with PLN 7,291 mil total income, or 3.93% revenue margin and ING Bank Slaski produced total income worth PLN 4,769 mil, or 3.78% of assets.

Polish banking sector generated total revenues of PLN 179,125 mil in 2017, down 0.589% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 6.72% of the sector’s total income in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 15.1% share while the five largest firms some 20.3% in 2017.
