Sberbank assets reached RUB 25,369 bil, down 7.19% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of RUB 27,335 bil in 2015 and an all time low of RUB 889 bil in 2001.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, VTB Bank assets amounted to RUB 12,588 bil, Gazprombank operated with RUB 4,879 bil assets and Otkritie Financial Corporation Bank had total assets of RUB 2,703 bil.

Total assets of the Russian banking sector amounted to RUB 73,936 bil in 2016, down 3.93% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Sberbank accounted for 0.034% of the sector’s assets in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 0.058% share while the five largest firms some 0.065% in 2016.

Based on a comparison of 19 banks in Russia in 2016, Tinkoff Group operated with the highest net interest margin, followed by OTP Bank Russia and Rusfinance Bank.

Tinkoff Group's net interest margin amounted to 21.6% in 2016, up from 19.8% when compared to the previous year.

Historically, the bank’s net interest margin reached an all time high of 35.7% in 2011 and an all time low of 19.8% in 2015. The average margin in the last five years amounted to 27.2%.

Average asset yield was 30.4% in 2016, up from 30.2% when compared to previous year. On the other hand, cost of funding amounted to 10.5% in 2016, down from 12.7%.

Comparing Tinkoff Group with its closest peers, OTP Bank Russia operated in 2016 with a net interest margin of 13.8% Rusfinance Bank reached 8.56% and Sovcombank some 5.54%.

The average net interest margin reached 3.52% in the Russian banking sector in 2016 while interest spread amounted to 5.63%.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, VTB Bank 's deposits amounted to RUB 7,347 bil at the end of 2016, Gazprombank operated with RUB 3,331 bil of customer deposits and Russian Agricultural Bank had clients' deposits of RUB 1,578 bil at the end of 2016.
