Bank assets as a share of GDP reached 38.9 % in 2017 in Azerbaijan, according to the National Central Bank. This is 22 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, bank assets as a share of GDP in Azerbaijan reached an all time high of 64.2 % in 2015 and an all time low of 11.8 % in 1995. When compared to Azerbaijan's main peers, bank assets as a share of GDP in Azerbaijan amounted to 38.9 %, 92.5 % in Georgia and 84.1 % in Russia in 2017.
Azerbaijan has been ranked 101st within the group of 113 countries we follow in terms of bank assets as a share of GDP, 22 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
